Juno Aurora Haven

Juno Aurora is a home for orphaned and abandoned children. At the moment we provide a home for 18 babies and children who come from financially and socially disadvantaged backgrounds. They’re from 1 to 9 years old. We take care of them the best we can with well-balanced food, clothing, a safe environment, toys, a daily routine and of course a lot of love and attention. The children are currently being home schooled.

Juno Aurora Haven’s vision is to build a nation by supporting the dis-empowered children and thus making South Africa a better place to live. We want to provide our children with a safe home, loving care, proper food, healthcare and education. We want to make Juno Aurora Haven a financially sustainable children’s home and want to give the children a solid base so they can become responsible adults with a gentle soul.

If you’d like to have more information or support us we’d be pleased to hear from you.

Academy for Environmental Leadership SA

The Academy for Environmental Leadership South Africa (AEL) has been successful in its application to accredit its year-long course Higher Certificate status. AEL was notified in September by the Department of Higher Education and Training that the Council on Higher Education (CHE) had approved its application.

The qualification, a Higher Certificate in Conservation Ecology, NQF Level 5, will come into effect during the first quarter of 2017, once further approval has been received by the South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA), after which the certificate will be published on the National Learners’ Records Database.
“The accreditation and recognition of AEL as a higher educational facility comes as a major achievement. Ultimately, if planned and managed carefully, we may decide in future to offer a one year course for a Higher Certificate, a two year course for a Diploma and a three year course for a Degree,” says Adv Fef le Roux, Chairman, Director and founder of the Academy.
The idea for a back-to-the-roots educational program was conceived by Le Roux and endorsed by celebrity environmentalist Dave Pepler. Together, they designed the now-accredited curriculum for which AEL is known.

For school-leavers who are traditionally interested in a gap year, the Academy for Environmental Leadership would be a perfect option. The aim of the institution is to guide and assist school leavers who have decided to follow an environmentally related career, or are still uncertain about their future, to develop their life skills, knowledge, self-confidence and leadership qualities as part of a pleasant and unforgettable experience, while at the same time equipping them with a tertiary qualification. Once achieved, students will be able to follow a variety of career opportunities in environmentally related fields of the alternative energy industry, farming, conservation, tourism, research, impact studies, etc.

Entries are now officially open for the annual Sasol New Signatures Art Competition.

The competition is open to all South African artists who are 18 years and older who have not yet held a solo exhibition. Artists who have held a solo exhibition for academic purposes, i.e. a Master's degree exhibition, are allowed to enter. Artists are able to submit artworks in all artistic mediums including photography, performance art, video and installations.

Information sessions are held nationally from 17 April. These sessions aim to give artists the opportunity to gain much needed technical information regarding format, size, media and layout of works, as well as give advice regarding the presentation of competition standard work. Click here for dates and to see which venues are near you.

The winner will receive R100 000 and a solo exhibition at next year's Sasol New Signatures exhibition, with the runner up receiving R25 000 and five merit award winners walking away with R10 000 each.

Walk For Autism Awareness

On the 28th of July 2019 the Inam Autism Advocacy Group (IAAG) will be participating in the 2019 Annual MTN Walk The Talk with 702. This will be the IAAG’s second participation at this event. The campaign’s intention is to walk to bring awareness to Autism. Over 100 people walked for the cause on at the 2018 edition under the IAAG banner.
